25-year milestone for ride
One of southeast Queensland’s favourite charity bike rides, the Heritage Karalee - Ipswich100, is returning on Sunday March 24.
The ride is an initiative of the Brisbane West Lions Club, in association with the Ipswich Hospital Foundation.
This year marks the 25th year of the ride in Ipswich and the Scenic Rim region, with cyclists coming from far and wide to take part in this historic event.
The Brisbane West Lions Club is thrilled to have the ride’s new naming sponsor ‘Heritage Karalee’ on board and continued partnership with major beneficiary Ipswich Hospital Foundation.
Online registrations offer cyclists three routes, from a challenging Imperial 100 mile (160km) to 100km and 50km rides.
Riders start and finish at Ipswich’s picturesque University of Southern Queensland campus and pass through farming land and bushland of the Scenic Rim, with spectacular views to the Great Divide and Cunninghams Gap.
Past participants Mark and Dana of Newtown were rather new to cycling when they first signed up for Ipswich100.
After the ride, they said “it was wonderful, one of the best we’ve been on, very organised, very safe, and lots of stops along the way which was fantastic, a lot of encouragement from other riders and the SES volunteers”.
