40km/hr limits for state school

Morayfield State School has announced the installation of a new 40km/hr school zone speed limit on Morayfield Road.

The speed limits will extend from the southern boundary of Morayfield State School (near Sheep Station Creek) through to approximately 150 metres north of the Caboolture River Road and William Berry Drive intersection.

The speed limit will be enforced between 7am-9am and 2pm-4pm. Principal Rebecca Jones said the new limits “will improve safety for students and the general community travelling to and from the school”.

The announcement prompted an online debate, with some questioning the necessity and saying parents and the school should increase road safety teachings, instead if reducing the speed limit.

Others were amongst the supporters of the restrictions, arguing it could only be positive for children and is normal for roads around schools to have restrictions.
