It was the first time Able Retreats held a fundraiser in Kilcoy, after Able Retreats opened its doors in the Sunshine Coast in December 2020, and opened its Kilcoy branch in February 2022.

Currently opened on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays in Kilcoy, Able Retreats offers holiday respite, day centre activities and community access to NDIS participants with a disability.

Able Retreats founder Rochelle Loveridge said the $411.75 raised from donations and sales at last Saturday’s sausage sizzle would go towards a new smart TV, which clients could use for playing games and watching movies.

Able Retreats previously held a high tea in March when more than $500 was raised for Rosies – Friends on the Street.

Rochelle said Able Retreats has 16 clients across the Sunshine Coast and Kilcoy so far, and that the Kilcoy community had been amazing with its support.

The Able Retreats founder said activities planned with the clients included whale watching in Hervey Bay, disco nights, pizza nights, and a Halloween party featuring dressing up.

Rochelle said another activity for the homeless”, involving an being discussed was a “sleepout overnight stay in a hall.
