Autistic Aussies urged to talk

Federal Member for Blair Shayne Neumann urges the local Autistic community in Ipswich, Somerset Region, and Karana Downs to contribute to the draft National Autism Strategy released by the Albanese Labor Government.

Neumann emphasises the strategy’s aim to enhance life outcomes and inclusivity for Autistic Australians across healthcare, education, and employment sectors.

Minister for Social Services Amanda Rishworth highlights the strategy’s focus on fostering inclusion and recognising Autistic strengths.

Developed with input from the Autistic community, the draft Strategy prioritises boosting social and economic inclusion and strengthening support services.

Co-chair of the Oversight Council Clare Gibellini stresses the importance of Autistic people’s involvement in shaping policies affecting their lives.

Public consultation, open until May 31, 2024, via the Department of Social Services’ Engage website.

The final Strategy and Action Plan, expected by the end of 2024, aim to address diverse needs within the Autistic community.
