Big crowd flocks to show at Prenzlau
THE introduction of bikes attracted new spectators and show entrants at this year’s Prenzlau Pride Car, Bike and Music Show, which took place at the Lowood Showgrounds on Sunday, July 31.
More than 1200 spectators came to see the display of over 100 car entrants and over 30 bike entrants, as the annual event was in its ninth year.
Cars and bikes started rolling in from 7am, and the three car judges began the difficult task of selecting a winner and runner-up in the car classes including Vintage/Veteran, Classic, Modern, Muscle, Commercial, and Sports.
The two bike judges selected winners in categories including Vintage/Veteran, Trike/Quad, Cruiser, and Custom. There was also an encouragement award for both bike and car.
Car of the Show was awarded to Gary Litfin with his 1966 HR Holden ute, and Bike of the Show was awarded to Ray Smith from NSW with his 1942 Harley Davidson WLA.
With plenty of food being served by the Prenzlau State School, everyone was well fed.
With more than 20 trade and market stallholders attending, there was something for everyone from plants to auto products and arts and crafts.
The Auxiliary Fire Service demonstrated rescue techniques, and people gathered around to see how the car was cut up.
Several local community groups had displays including the Prenzlau Rural Fire Brigade, the Somerset Community Men’s Shed, and the historic engines group.
The bar provided a place to sit back and watch the proceedings while listening to local band Play ‘N’ Up.
Shannons big rig was a huge hit with the kids who were able to race in a race car simulator.
The younger kids enjoyed face painting and lots of time in the jumping castle.
With the Lowood Lions and the Prenzlau Pride Committee doing a lot of work to organise this community event, the Lions wish to thank all major sponsors who made the show such a success.
The Lions would also like to acknowledge the many other local businesses that provided support through the donation of prizes for the bike and car winners, and for the number boards.
The committee hopes to see everyone back next year.
