Urban Utilities received a call at about 8am and attended to the incident, where water was flowing along the gutter.

The burst water pipe appeared to be a result of a hole in the asbestos concrete, due to rust and deterioration.

A piece of the asbestos concrete was taken out and replaced, before the affected area of the road was filled with road base via an excavator.

There was no suggestion of problems with water quality, after the water was turned back on.
