Caboolture has representatives in the U12, U13 and U14 age groups for the championships, which will take place at various south-east Queensland venues from Monday to Thursday next week.

The players earned selection during the Sunshine Coast Cricket Association’s (SCCA) two-day junior representative trials.

Matthew ‘Matty’ Wheeler will play in the Ian Healy Cup U12 competition, while Emery McGrath and Harry Smith play in the Les Kinnane Cup U13 competition.

Matty’s dad Laithe said, “Matty is very proud to be representing Caboolture.”

Caboolture’s representation in the Don Bambling Cup U14 competition looks strong as the Sunshine Coast team includes Caboolture sextet Lawson Clegg, Julius Stimson, Kale Keating, Heath Killick, Cooper Herson and Sahib Rai.

Additionally, Caboolture’s Braxton Tuza will play in the U14 QJC team.

Sunshine Coast’s U12s will play at the Gympie-based One Mile Recreation Area, and the U13s will play at Birkdale and Tingalpa while the U14s play at The Southport School.

Sunshine Coast’s U12s are scheduled to contest MSW on day one, BEARS on day two and Wide Bay on day three, while Sunshine Coast’s U13s contest BEARS, Gold Coast and Wide Bay.

Sunshine Coast’s U14s are scheduled to contest Brisbane North, BEARS and Wide Bay, before each grade has a finals series on the fourth and fifth days.

A spokesperson from Caboolture Sports Cricket Club said, “The players have set their sights on representative cricket and worked hard in the trials to be selected.

“It is definitely going to be a rewarding experience for them.”
