THE Caboolture Central Swimming Club began the 2022-23 season in energetic fashion as more than 30 swimmers took part in last Thursday’s club night.

There were many familiar faces and a few first-timers as swimmers aged from 6 to 17 years came from places including Caboolture, Morayfield, Burpengary, Narangba, Bribie Island, Beerwah and Kilcoy.

Events were 25m and 50m as there was freestyle, breaststroke, fun mixed relays, individual medleys, and novelty events.

James Paterson joined Belgravia Leisure – which manages the Caboolture Pool and Fitness Centre – as coach a few years ago and started with only three young swimmers at Caboolture Central Swimming Club.

James said numbers had increased as the children had a good time socially and were keen to bring along their friends.

With about 40 swimmers signing up for this season, James said that the club would hopefully host swimming nights on a fortnightly basis as this was the first season of hosting club nights.

“We have multiple Wide Bay regional champions, record holders, State medallists, national qualifiers and a 16-year-old in the top 30 Australian women,” James said.
