Curing Homesickness is a national initiative which raises funds to support children’s hospitals, foundations and paediatric services.

Funds raised until Tuesday March 28 at Coles supermarkets in Queensland will help The Prince Charles Hospital and Caboolture Hospital to purchase vital medical equipment.

Shoppers can support the initiative by purchasing a $2 donation card at the checkout or by making a donation of their choice at a Coles supermarket or via Coles Online.

Additionally, customers can pick up a specially-marked Mum’s Sause pasta or pizza sauce, with fifty cents from each product sold year-round going to the cause.

Funds raised in this year’s Coles Curing Homesickness appeal will help purchase equipment such as specialised infant warmer and incubator beds for the children’s ward at The Prince Charles Hospital and the Children’s Emergency Department and virtual reality goggles for the Caboolture Hospital’s Paediatrics Ward.

The Common Good CEO Steve Francia said funds raised in this year’s appeal will make a huge difference to sick kids seeking treatment in Queensland.

“The Common Good is an initiative of The Prince Charles Hospital Foundation, which supports hospital innovation, patient care initiatives and medical research to benefit our local community and beyond,” he said.

“Since we partnered with Coles and Curing Homesickness in 2019, the needs of the hospitals we represent has increased, with visitations growing by over 20%. As a result, we need more equipment in our hospitals to improve efficiency and health outcomes for the extra children we are seeing.

“The impact of the Curing Homesickness appeals on kids’ lives has already been so profound.

“We are so grateful to be part of this opportunity year after year and to make a meaningful difference for sick children in Queensland.”

Coles State General Manager Jerry Farrell said Coles is proud to continue its support for Curing Homesickness in Queensland.

“Coles stores and team members across Queensland are incredibly proud to get behind this year’s Curing Homesickness appeal because we know that every cent raised is going to make a big difference,” he said.

“We’re extremely honoured to have already raised nearly $900,000 for The Common Good in just four years through the sales of Mum’s Sause and our annual Curing Homesickness appeal and we encourage our customers to continue to get behind this great cause.”

Since 2019, funds raised by Coles customers and team members for Curing Homesickness has helped The Common Good to fund new equipment and a Child Life Therapist at The Prince Charles Hospital’s Children’s Service and Children’s Emergency Department.

The Coles Curing Homesickness appeal runs from Wednesday March 15 to Tuesday March 28 in all Coles supermarkets.
