Community support drives hope for new coach service

THERE remains a possibility that a new bus service in the Moreton Bay and Somerset regions could be operational within a few months, following ample support from a survey earlier this year.

The Kilcoy Coach Stop is among the destinations mooted for a new bus service in the Moreton Bay and Somerset regions.

The organiser of the proposal, Morgan Freney, indicated that the coach service could be up and running as early as September, following earlier indications that the survey would remain open until October 31, 2021.

People are still welcome to contribute to the survey, which can be found at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/9D5WT23.

More than 400 responses have been made so far to the proposed service which would start in Caboolture and go through Wamuran, D’Aguilar, Woodford, Kilcoy, Somerset Dam, Mt Beppo, Toogoolawah and Esk on the way to Toowoomba.

“It is looking extremely promising to have the service established this year with detailed feasibility now being undertaken,” Mr Freney said.

“We could see it up and running around September.

“Adult fares are looking to range from $11 to $33 in a zonal style fare set-up.

“Bikes and additional luggage on top of one carry-on and one suitcase will be an additional $10 on the fare.”
