Lights shine on Toogoolawah
SOMERSET Regional Council has completed the installation of 51 solar lights along the new shared concrete pathway through Toogoolawah.
Deputy Mayor, Helen Brieschke, said this wonderful project was funded under the 2019 Queensland Bushfires Local Economic Recovery Program through the Queensland Reconstruction Authority with funding from the Australian and Queensland Governments and from Council.
“The project has created a wonderful new feature for the commercial centre of Toogoolawah, similar to the recent path and lighting upgrades in Lowood and Fernvale,” Cr Brieschke said.
“Work is also underway on extending the existing solar connector through the northern part of Esk, through to Peters Street under the same funding program.
“The new path gives all-abilities, solar-lit access through town, facilitating tourism and providing marshalling area and evacuation opportunities in the event of fire or other emergencies.
“Together with other new paths, it provides linkages to the popular RV parking area in the middle of town, Toogoolawah station and History Museum, Toogoolawah State School, tennis courts, Court House, Our House disability support centre and much more.
“We are very grateful to the Australian and Queensland Governments and also to the Queensland Reconstruction Authority for supporting this vital community connector.”
