Roadworks Ahead! Stony Creek To Receive a Bitumen Facelift
Member for Glass House Andrew Powell is pleased to announce that detailed design is currently underway for intersection safety improvements and pavement rehabilitation along the D’Aguilar Highway at Stony Creek.
“I’m stoked whenever I hear that a section of the D’Aguilar Highway is slated to receive upgrades. Being such a key arterial road with frequent car and truck usage, it’s always in need of repair and upgrade,” said Mr Powell.
The rehabilitation works will take place on approximately four kilometres of the D’Aguilar Highway, from just west of Kilcoy-Beerwah Road to just west of Stony Creek Road, Stony Creek. These works will improve the surface and subsurface of the road, extending the life of the road and reducing costs associated with ongoing routine maintenance.
“This will mean that motorists will have to exercise a little patience on their commutes as the speed limit drops and workers are out on the road, but it will be worth the wait!”
In addition, the Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) will also undertake safety improvement works at the D’Aguilar Highway intersections with Jenkinsons Road, Bateman Road and Stony Creek Road.
These improvements will provide dedicated right-turn lanes, improving safety for all road users by reducing the risk of rear-end crashes for vehicles waiting on the highway to turn right. Traffic flow will also be improved for motorists continuing along the D’Aguilar Highway.
“I’ve seen the proposed design and it includes pavement rehabilitation, culvert works, resurfacing and line marking as well as the installation of right-turn lanes at the intersections with Jenkinsons Road, Bateman Road and Stony Creek Road.”
“A number of locals have specifically requested these right turn lanes, so I’m happy to announce that construction should start in late 2021, weather permitting,” Mr Powell concluded.
