Rural Fire Brigade Coordination Committee member, Councillor Jason Wendt said, “In the ten years since the 2011 floods, Somerset has become better prepared for disasters.”

“This means working with partners including QFES to make sure that our urban firefighters and other emergency personnel have the resources they need to do the job,” he said.

“Just in the past month, we have seen a fire in the main street of Esk destroy a shop and traffic accidents on State highways in our area that required emergency attendance.

“A portion of every rate notice bottom line goes to QFES to help manage emergency service costs for this reason.”
