Somerset Region Deputy Mayor Helen Brieschke said the council has undertaken a range of maintenance and minor upgrades over the off season, including new shade sails and purchase of an aquatic wheelchair for Kilcoy.

“We have also undertaken concourse refurbishments and construction of new disabled stair access at Lowood, provided new lane ropes at Toogoolawah and new picnic benches in Kilcoy and Toogoolawah,” Cr Brieschke said.

“These works follow the installation of electric heat pumps in Toogoolawah and Kilcoy last season.

“There will be some disruption to services at Toogoolawah this season as the construction of the new gym progresses and the very exciting installation of a splash pad commences.

"We ask the local community to please be patient during these works, once they are finished, the community will have a quality lifestyle precinct to enjoy,” Cr Brieschke said.

The council will also be commencing works at the Lowood Swimming Pool at the end of the season to install a splash pad and ramp access to the pool, resurface the pool and replace the pool plant equipment.

These works have been tentatively scheduled to commence in March 2022 to ensure minimal disruption to services.

This will mean that the pool will close early and Council will ensure that patrons and the community remain up to date with the schedule for these works.

The Lowood Pool – Safe and Fun for Everyone project was proudly funded by the Queensland Government’s South East Queensland Community Stimulus Program in association with Somerset Regional Council.

The Esk Swimming Pool will re-open on Saturday 25 September.
