Design underway to rehabilitate D'Aguilar Highway through Woodford
MOTORISTS travelling along the D'Aguilar Highway through Woodford are in for a smoother and safer journey with 2.3km of road about to undergo rehabilitation.
The project will focus on the stretch of highway between Peterson Road and Mary Street.
Design is underway to strengthen areas of the highway and replace the existing surface.
The detailed design is expected to be complete within the next few months, will construction to follow.
Transport and Main Roads Minister Mark Bailey said "we are committed to creating safer and more reliable roads wherever you live across the State and this investment into the D'Aguilar Highway is helping to achieve that.”
"This is a strategic link not just between Caboolture and Kilcoy, but for the great state network, and we recognise the important role it plays.
"The Palaszczuk Government will be delivering almost $3.1 billion worth of road and transport infrastructure projects across the Sunshine Coast and surrounding areas over the next four years.”
Assistant Minister for Regional Roads Bruce Saunders said more than 7,400 vehicles travel through Woodford every day and these maintenance works are important for the busy township.
“The D’Aguilar is a vital link for producers and freight operators travelling between the Coast and communities further out West and this will make the road more reliable and smoother to travel along,” Mr Saunders said.
“We also know that a lot of families and tourists use this major thoroughfare on the weekends and holiday periods to go camping and checkout the beautiful scenery so we are doing everything we can to ensure their trip is safe and convenient.”
