Moreton Bay Regional Council have been consulting with Queensland Police Service to install over 30 mobile units around the region.

Councillor Mark Booth said there is future planning for more of these units to be purchased and deployed.

“Last year council invested in over 176 new CCTV cameras across the region,” Mr Booth said.

“QPS have advised that during the month of January 46 offenders were arrested as a direct result of the alerts generated by our CCTV system.

“These 46 arrests results in a total of 208 charges.

“A great community outcome any measure.”

Mr Booth said these cameras will not only help police and council’s local law officers respond faster to criminal and antisocial behaviour, but they will also record the evidence needed to apprehend offenders.
