One of Woodford, Burleigh, Nudgee, Redcliffe, Redland Bay, Brisbane and Toowoomba will be crowned the winner at the awards night at The Star Gold Coast on October 25.

It’s the first time Woodford Golf Club has been nominated for the Industry Awards, with club president Andre Le Huray putting in the nomination while the staff and committee put together a proposal.

Woodford Golf Club operations manager Dean Dagan said the club was excited to be nominated for the first time, while it was an astounding achievement to be named alongside clubs including Redcliffe, Brisbane and Redland Bay.

“The club has undergone a major bunker refurbishment which has proven a major success,” Dagan said.

Dagan said there was a cost-effective strategy to improve the bunker condition, as well as new paths alongside the fourth, fifth, ninth and tenth holes to provide more safety to members and guests.

Dagan said the club had more than 800 members; its highest ever number.

Statistics revealed 76 percent of the members reside more than 15km away from the Woodford golf course.

Part of the Woodford Golf Club’s proposal said: “At Woodford Golf Club our staff embraces the standard operating procedure that it is everyone’s job, every day, to retain and recruit new members.

“There is a firm belief at Woodford Golf Club that a vibrant club comprised of happy club members and happy staff members undoubtedly is the desired outcome.

“Our staff create the motivation for the new member to join and at the same time establishes loyalty to remain a long-term club member.”

Another part of the proposal said: “The club has developed a diverse range of membership packages to suit all members’ financial needs.

“These range from juniors through to couples and aged pensions.

“Membership payments are also structured to meet the current demand and in recent times there has been an increase in monthly payment arrangements.

“These memberships represent a much lower cost and appeal better to millennials who prefer the freedom of monthly subscriptions over year-long commitments.”
