Fruit mince pies crowned Christmas favourite by Moreton Bay residents

FILLED with a sweet mixture of fruit, spices and suet, fruit mince pies are a treat common to most Australian households at Christmas time.

However, a survey conducted by Coles found that Morayfield shoppers in particular are loving their fruit mince pies, topping sales across the state for the popular Christmas good.

Morayfield local Ken said he buys fruit mince pies every year and said they are a “nice” treat.

However, he said declaring them his “favourite Christmas dessert” would be a big ask, with so many other delicious goods on offer during the festive season, especially trifle.

Coles surveyed more than 9,700 customers to understand how Australians are feeling about Christmas this year and how popular festive items differ across the nation.

Coles sales insights found that when it comes to eating the most ham – the iconic Aussie staple at every Christmas lunch or dinner – Queenslanders will be tucking into more Christmas hams from Coles per capita than NSW and Tasmanian customers combined, enough of the Christmas classic to fill more than seven jumbo jets.

Overall, fruit mince pies, Christmas hams and puddings are customers’ favourite festive food.
