Gold award for Woodford hairdresser
WOODFORD, Wamuran and D’Aguilar featured prominently at the annual Glass House Small Business Awards, as a gala night was held at Hideaway Weddings on Tuesday night last week.
Kerri Sneddon of Woodford Barber Shop And Colour Bar won the Gold Employee award while the other Woodford, Wamuran and D’Aguilar award recipients were in the Moreton Bay category.
The D’Aguilar-based Rayview Produce won the Silver Business award, while Brendan Craig of Woolworths Woodford was named Silver Employee.
The Woodford-based Alina K Aesthetics won the Bronze Business award, while Wamuran-based Kids Capers Childcare worker Katreena Lucas was named Bronze Employee.
Member for Glass House, Andrew Powell, presented the awards while Moreton Bay councillor Tony Latter also attended.
The Gold Employee award winner said it was amazing just to be nominated.
“I’m so honoured, I feel amazing, and incredibly blessed,” Kerri said. “We have an amazing community.”
Kerri started at the Woodford Barber Shop And Colour Bar in late 2020, and has also run a group called Wild La Fe, which has helped heal and empower women in the Woodford region.
The Member for Glass House acknowledged Kerri’s work with Wild La Fe as well as her work at the barber shop.
Kerri said it was in her nature to help and encourage people, and that she was “all about building a relationship with my clients, and to build trust”.
Rayview owner Leeza Doolan said the award win for her business was great for the staff and customers, and that “we’ll keep doing what we’re doing”.
Leeza thanked her staff, and she also thanked those who voted for them.
“Thank you (also) to my beautiful daughter Chloe Doolan for helping me so much managing Rayview and getting us where we are today,” Leeza said.
Brendan, who began working at Woolworths Woodford nearly 10 years ago, said he felt proud of himself for his award win.
“All the hard work pays off,” he said.
Brendan said he enjoyed the work, customers and the community.
Alina K Aesthetics manager Naz Togyer said it was “nice to be nominated, and on top of that, to win something out of it”.
Naz said Alina K Aesthetics felt a lot of support from locals, while there were some very loyal and amazing clients.
“We love all our clients, it’s like a family,” she said.
“It’s good to bring something big into a small town, and there’s a bit of variety for everyone.”
Katreena said she was very surprised to receive her award, and also felt very humbled and very appreciated.
Katreena said the Wamuran and surrounding community had been welcoming.
“It feels like home, and feels like extended family,” she said.
