A total of 59 players from across the state were nominated for the award.

Grace and Tamzin play together in the Snakes women’s team, and both said they were grateful and appreciative to be nominated alongside other great players across the region.

Grace said it was great to see so much talent being recognised around central Queensland.

“Really shows we are growing as a community in the women’s league,” she said.

Grace started playing rugby league six years ago, and Tamzin has played since she was 11 years old.

Although 2022 was her first year playing in the women’s competition, 18-year-old Grace was selected for the Queensland Sapphires and competed at the National Championships earlier this year.

Tamzin was also a part of the Queensland Sapphires training squad, and she said she was grateful for the great deal of skills she learnt from the other girls and coaches.

Tamzin said her main goal for next year was to be a part of the Falcons BMD side.

Getting stronger and fitter are Grace’s goals for next year, in addition to making the Queensland Sapphires team and the new Sunshine Coast BHP team.

Grace said that like everyone playing in the women’s league, her goal was to be signed with the NRLW.

An announcement of the award recipient is yet to be made.
