There was a serious element to the evening, which featured a panel discussion on mental health and the strides being made towards successful treatment and prevention.

There were also many lighthearted moments, and the event culminated with a lively cake-cutting ceremony.

In addition to members of the Chamber, there were other business people from the region in attendance along with MPs Mark Ryan and Andrew Powell, Moreton Bay Mayor Peter Flannery and councillors Adam Hain, Tony Latter and Brooke Savige.

The master of ceremonies (MC) at the event last February, Scott Lachmund returned to perform the same role again.

GCCC president Naomi Spence reminisced about the year that was, and encouraged Greater Caboolture businesses to take some time to dream and reimagine what they want the region to be in the future.

Cr Flannery congratulated the GCCC for such a great start and for being the fastest growing Chamber in Queensland, while Cr Hain congratulated the Chamber committee on a job well done.

Dr Evan Jones, whose generous support of the GCCC enabled it to launch a year ago, also congratulated the Chamber on its growth during the past 12 months.

With the GCCC topping 120 members, Ms Spence said the Chamber exceeded its target of 100 in its first year.

“Events regularly attract more than 60 attendees per event, with many returning to reconnect with like-minded business people,” she said.

“(The) Chamber joined with five other local chambers to launch Moreton Money in the region, a buy local initiative funded by Council.

“GCCC also took over the caretaker role for Caboolture Made, an initiative that seeks to improve the reputation of Caboolture both within and outside the community by highlighting local businesses, attractions and activities.

“Key issues moving forward are to continue to engage with local businesses to better understand their needs and advocate on their behalf with all three levels of government.

“Businesses and business owners are under considerable stress with increased costs, shortage of suitable candidates to fill job vacancies and the ongoing challenges of Covid-19.”
