Head shave to raise funds
The community is encouraged to support Woodford resident Douglas ‘Jock’ Messinbird, who will have his head shaved in town on Sunday (March 10) to raise funds for the Kids With Cancer Foundation.
Jock will have his hair removed at about 1pm at the Woodford Hotel, with his sons Jesse and Luke to start the process.
This event came about because Jock, who faces losing his hair due to cancer treatment, had the idea to shave it off before it falls out in order to raise money to help children with cancer.
There will be plenty of activity in addition to Jock’s head shave, with a second person set to have their head shaved while another person has their chest waxed.
Numerous items will also be auctioned, including two Brisbane Broncos jerseys, two tickets to Broncos games, four $50 vouchers for the Woodford Hotel, and a $200 voucher for the Story Bridge Hotel.
Another item for auction will be a BBQ, courtesy of Woodford Home Timber & Hardware, while there will also be a fruit tray raffle.
