Kilcoy Global Foods set for graduate program intake

KILCOY Global Foods (KGF) has launched its 2023 Graduate Program which is aimed at fostering young professionals to become the next generation of leaders within the beef industry.

KGF President Australian Division, Jiah Falcke, said the business was looking for young professionals with an undergraduate degree in either agriculture, accounting or international business, and who possess a passion for innovation to contribute to creating food systems which are more competitive, prosperous and sustainable.

“This is a company-led initiative which we have successfully run over the past three years, many of our past graduates continue to work in our organisation in a diverse range of roles including sales, food solutions, livestock and strategic projects,” Mr Falcke said.

“Our two-year program is designed to develop both technical and behavioural capabilities consisting of four rotations where they will have the opportunity to work across multiple business units, across multiple business sites both in Kilcoy and in Birtinya on the Sunshine Coast.

“The program consists of a comprehensive induction including site visits, training, structured job rotations, mentor program and regular Graduate Network sessions.”

Originally from Boonah, Ben Wieland was one of the two successful University graduates selected in the 2020 Graduate Program.

“It’s been fantastic, it’s so diverse and being able to work across a range of operations gives me a broad appreciation of the business,” he said.

“There’s so many opportunities to learn from other people, for example I’ve met staff who have sold beef in Japan and Hong Kong, so you get great insights into different consumer behaviours and how other parts of the world operate.”

Sally Morrissey, one of the five graduates in the 2021 intake, said participating in the program helped her understand the broad array of career options on offer at KGF, from operations through to marketing and international sales.

“Over the past 18 months I have worked closely with our logistics, documentation, customer service, production, sales and marketing team, and have now moved into a sales support role focusing on boxed beef sales to North Asia,” she said.

“Working in the sales team has been instrumental in my growth as a business professional.

“I have developed strong communication skills, and have learnt a lot about different cultures and cuisines.

“In addition to this, I now have a good understanding of both the commercial and operational side of the business.

“I couldn’t recommend the KGF Future Leaders Graduate Program more for graduates who are passionate about sustainability, agriculture, and feeding the plant.”
