Kilcoy ready to host veterans race day

At least seven or eight gallop races and several mini trots are set for Veterans Day at Kilcoy Race Club on Saturday, while entry is free.

There will be a chance to honour diggers and Vietnam veterans as well as socialise and enjoy an afternoon of country racing.

With the track rated a Good 4, the feature race will be the Butler McDermott Lawyers Vietnam Veterans Cup.

Kilcoy Race Club chairperson Con Searle said a big crowd was expected while veterans from the Caboolture, Bribie Island, Sandgate and Redcliffe RSL sub branches were set to visit.

There will be the usual Pick the Card $500 prize, raffles, and the $100 members draw.

The bar and cafeteria will be open while barbecue food is also available, and patrons are reminded that no food or alcohol can be brought to the venue.

Gates open at 10.30am.
