After four decades in Brisbane Valley, Doctor Martti has no plans to retire

“THE BEAUTY of being a GP is that you don’t know what’s coming in the door. There’s no predictability.” These were among the insights from Martti Kahelin, who has worked as a doctor at Brisbane Valley Medical Services in Esk and Toogoolawah for 40 years.

Many times there has been speculation as to whether or not the end is in sight for him.

But for Dr Kahelin, this is a no-brainer.

“I’m not planning to retire any time soon,” he said.

“The rumours come every three to six months.

“I really like doing what I’m doing, and I can’t think of anything else I’d rather be doing.”
