D’Aguilar Highway crash claims life

One person is dead and four others transported to hospital after a two-vehicle crash on the D’Aguilar Highway at Stony Creek on Friday morning.

While investigations into the crash are ongoing, Zoe Henrichs, Acting Supervisor of Operations with Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS), said they were called to a ‘two car crash with multiple reports of critical injuries’, with two helicopters deployed to the crash.

“We had a huge response with two helos, critical care paramedics, high acuity paramedics and multiple advanced care paramedics,” Ms Henrichs said.

Following the crash, one male patient was transported to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital in a stable condition, a teen-aged male transported to the Queensland’s Children’s Hospital in a stable condition.

Two female patients, both in their 50s, were transported by helicopter, one, in a critical condition, was flown to Sunshine Coast University Hospital, while the other woman was transported by helicopter to the Royal Brisbane Women’s Hospital in a serious condition.

A fifth patient was assessed at the scene for ‘critical injuries’, however they were pronounced as deceased.

A drone photo from the accident scene was supplied to the Sentinel News, however it was decided to not use the image at this time, due to the potentially distressing nature of the image.

The D'Aguilar Highway remains closed, with traffic diverted via Neurum.
