Federal support for Men’s Shed
FEDERAL Member for Blair, Shayne Neumann, expressed his support for The Australian Men’s Shed Association (AMSA) during a recent visit to Toogoolawah.
Mr Neumann discussed things with a number of Toogoolawah District Men’s Shed members, and encouraged them to apply for a volunteer grant and to talk about infrastructure and future plans.
Mr Neumann considered there were many positive aspects to being part of a Men’s Shed, as it helped prevent loneliness and isolation.
The Member for Blair said the Men’s Shed enabled people to “get together and have a yarn” over a cup of coffee or tea, and to share hobbies and interests.
“It’s important for friendship and fellowship,” Mr Neumann said.
“It’s a good social outlet.”
AMSA was established in 2007, and supports almost 1000 Men’s Sheds.
