Flare kit found in Moreton Bay triggers land and sea search
Police are seeking public assistance regarding the ownership of an emergency flare kit that was located in Moreton Bay on Wednesday 16 June.
The discovery led to Brisbane Water Police conducting a water and air search of the South Passage Bar and Moreton Bay area after a flare kit was located by a member of the public floating in the trawler break around 3pm.
Land searches on North Stradbroke Island were also conducted.
It did not appear that any of the flares had been used, and no missing person or vessel reports had been received by police from the area.
Anyone with information, or who may have lost an emergency flare kit in the area, is urged to contact police.
