Flood warning for Mary River

As the rain continues to fall and rivers and stream rise, the Bureau of Meteorology has issued a flood warning for the Mary River.

While not directly affecting the Somerset or Moreton Bay regions, residents are warned to take care of they are travelling.

Minor to moderate flooding is occurring along the Mary River downstream of Gympie.

The Mary River at Miva is currently at 14.77 metres and rising, with moderate flooding. The Mary River at Miva will exceed the major flood level (15.50 m) late Friday afternoon and is expected to continue rising. With forecast rainfall the river level may exceed the height of the Mary River Bridge (22.00m).

The Mary River at Tiaro is currently at 8.7 metres and rising, with moderate flooding. The Mary River at Tiaro is likely to reach the major flood level (12.00 m) overnight Friday into Saturday and is expected to continue rising as upstream flood waters arrive.
