Harlin hit by hail, but no storms today

The Somerset township of Harlin was hit hard by hail last night (Thursday), but the storms look to have backed off for today.

The Somerset township Harlin was hit by a savage storm cell just after 7pm last night.

A savage storm cell passed over the township just after 7pm last night, with strong winds, heavy rain and hail, before continuing south towards Gregors Creek and Toogoolawah.

While no damage reports have been received, drivers caught in the storm have reported difficult and dangerous driving conditions, including tree crowns and small branches blowing across the Brisbane Valley Highway, as well as 'significantly' reduced visibility.

While the official Bureau of Meteorology forecast predicted showers and storms for the northern Somerset and Moreton Bay regions, the BoM weather radar  at 12.15pm showed only small amount of shower activity in the area south of Esk.
