While many bridges are already closed by the rising water, there is now great concern about low-lying roads being cut by water run off, with many of these potentially unsignposted.

Residents from the Sandy Creek and Mt Kilcoy area have reported a number of gullies filled with water, making the roads impassable.

Drivers are urged to take caution, and obey all warning signs.

Police said to follow the rule of 'If it is flooded, forget it'.

More updates will follow during the day.
