Mr Saunders said in total, 12.5km of roads heading to Kilcoy, Esk, Moore and Toogoolawah would be upgraded, including:

- 6.2km of Brisbane Valley Highway

- 3.3km of D’Aguilar Highway

- 200m of Esk-Kilcoy Road

- 2.7km of Wivenhoe-Somerset Road

“The Palaszczuk Government last year locked in $19 million for the D’Aguilar Highway as part of $5 billion in stimulus funding with the Australian Government, and we’re adding to that with more investment on roads in the region.

“As part of this project, 2.3 kilometres of Forest Hill-Fernvale Road, between Vernor Road and Goan Lane, will also be resealed.

The culvert on Forest Hill-Fernvale Road (east of Vernor Road) will also be replaced while crews are on site.

The Forest Hill-Fernvale Road resealing will be carried out during the Easter school holidays to ensure Fernvale State School isn’t impacted.

“Our investment right across the Somerset region will not only improve safety along key stretches, but also provide a spark for local economies with crews spending money at local shops while they carry out the works.

“Queenslanders backed the Palaszczuk Government and its plan for economic recovery and better roads, and we’re backing them with an ongoing investment that’ll create jobs at a time we need them most.”

Mr Saunders said Somerset Regional Council contractors would deliver the work.

Works will take place 6am to 6pm, Monday to Saturday and are expected to take about 12 weeks to complete, weather and conditions permitting.

Traffic controllers, reduced speed limits, road and variable message signs will be in place to ensure motorist and road worker safety during the work.
