Lions acquire mini-bus
The Wamuran Lions Club has become the proud custodian of an 11-seater passenger mini-bus, generously donated by the now-dissolved Beachmere Lions Club.
Wamuran Lions Club president Brian McAtee said the heartfelt gesture allowed the club to extend its outreach and offer a valuable service to the community.
“The mini-bus will be dedicated to assisting those who lack access to transportation, ensuring they can reach doctor and hospital appointments, partake in grocery shopping trips, and participate in school activities,” he said.
“Additionally, it will facilitate inter-club visits, fostering a sense of community.
“To emphasise our commitment to accessibility, we’re offering these transportation services free of charge.
“However, we would be immensely grateful for any donations that could contribute to the ongoing operational costs of the vehicle.”
While the mini-bus won’t be available for private events or personal use at this stage, Mr McAtee said it would undoubtedly make a significant impact in fulfilling the club’s community service goals.
After brand-new tyres were fitted last November, Mr McAtee said, “We express our deepest gratitude to the Beachmere Lions for choosing us as the recipients of this invaluable asset.
“Rest assured, we pledge to utilise it effectively, ensuring it serves our community to the fullest.”
