Stage one of the upgrades started in April and included replacing the existing pool with a new reinforced concrete tiled pool including ramp and stair access, a new water treatment system, new heating equipment and replacement of the toddler pool with a zero-depth water play area.

Somerset Regional Council Mayor Graeme Lehmann said the pool would reopen to the public later than first anticipated.

“Unfortunately, due to circumstances outside of our control, the pool will reopen late November,” Cr Lehmann said.

“The delay in reopening is the result of weather and labour shortages.

“While we recognise this may be disappointing, the upgraded pool facilities will be worth the wait.”

Cr Lehmann thanked the community for their understanding.

“The upgrade facility will service Lowood and surrounding communities for years to come,” Cr Lehmann said.

Council will be start stage two of the Lowood Pool redevelopment project in the 2023 offseason.

These works will include carpark refurbishments, installation of solar panels, lighting upgrades, amenities refurbishments and landscape works.

The Lowood Swimming Pool will be managed by Just Sports n Fitness on behalf of Council when reopened.

The Lowood Pool – Safe and Fun for Everyone project is funded by the Queensland Government’s South East Queensland Community Stimulus Program.
