Competitors from all over south-east Queensland converged at the Morayfield Sport and Events Centre for the event, which has been held annually over the past few years.

Red Dragon Martial Arts owner Brett Fenton said this year’s team was the biggest which the Morayfield-based martial arts school had fielded at this event so far, as the nine athletes ranged from nine to 33 years of age.

Danny Van Drunen claimed one gold and two silver medals, while Zaccharius Ward earned one silver and two bronze medals.

Arryn Cox picked up two silver medals while Kaiden Buck, Sarah Perez Varela, Lyric Van Der Kolk and Hayden Bermingham claimed one silver medal each.

Kaiden also achieved a bronze medal, as did Jemma Bodsworth, while Remington Ramsay secured two bronze medals.

“Everyone worked hard leading up to the competition and went away with plenty to work on as the competition level was very good,” Brett said.
