Police dogs nab crims
Police Dogs Beau and Gator played a key role in the arrest of two men at Dakabin.
Police were called to the Dakabin area after two men who allegedly fled a crashed car fitted with stolen registration plates on Wednesday.
At around 1:40pm on Wednesday, a silver Ford Falcon bearing stolen plates was travelling westbound on Kerr Rd West before it veered off the road, struck a light pole and a number of shrubs before coming to a stop in a garden bed at the intersection of Kerr Road.
The two male occupants of the vehicle then allegedly fled the scene, trespassing through multiple properties.
It is further alleged the driver of the vehicle went inside a nearby residence and assaulted a 43-year-old male occupant unknown to him, punching him in the face multiple times before leaving.
Police attended the scene of the crash, with PD Gator and PD Beau deployed to conduct an immediate track of the area.
The alleged driver jumped a back fence and was pursued by PD Beau along Tamarin Court before jumping into a box trailer in an attempt to flee. He was taken into custody on scene.
PD Gator continued to track the male passenger for an extended period through bushland, into the Dakabin waste facility and into further bushland where he located the man concealed in long grass and apprehended him with a controlled bite to the calf.
The 35-year-old man was provided with first aid and later transported to hospital and is currently assisting police with inquiries.
A 23-year-old Dakabin man has been charged with two counts of stealing and one count each of assault occasioning bodily harm, burglary, failure to comply with duties of driver involved in crash, possess things used in commission of an offence, obstruct police and trespass.
The man is also charged with serious assault person in pursuance of unlawful conspiracy following an alleged incident on August 7 where he attempted to leave a Morayfield South supermarket without paying for grocery items.
When a female store attendant tried to intervene the man allegedly claimed to have COVID-19 before deliberately coughing on her and leaving.
He was due to appear in Pine Rivers Magistrate Court on Thursday.
