Population influx places pressure on public transport infrastructure
GLARING gaps are beginning to appear in public transport infrastructure, especially in the Caboolture to Kilcoy corridor, and has prompted Cr Tony Latter of Moreton Bay Regional Council to call for greater scrutiny.
With Caboolture West set for a huge influx in population during the next two decades, Cr Latter points to a need for Council to work with the State Government in planning for the future, and that includes transport.
He said he would like to see a return bus service between Caboolture and Kilcoy, with a consistent ticketing service.
Cr Latter warned that Caboolture was classified as urban while Woodford was classified as rural, in which case there were two different systems.
Whereas a Go Card could be utilised in Caboolture, Cr Latter said it was a different matter in Woodford and Kilcoy.
Having a more regular bus service could be the “first initial push” and then see how it goes, Cr Latter said.
Cr Latter’s comments come several months after Morgan Freney, who drives buses in the Caboolture region, distributed an online survey for a proposed Caboolture to Toowoomba coach service.
