Runner-up placing in Bundy Cup touch footy

Caboolture touch football team ‘It’s Just Touch’ made the grand final in the Social Mixed division in the Bundaberg Cup, playing at the Bundaberg-based Greg Duncan Fields from February 2 to 4.

In addition to the Social Mixed division, there were U12 and U14 boys and girls divisions, as well as U16 boys, Open Mixed, Social Men’s and Social Women’s, as teams came from across Queensland for the touch football tournament.

It’s Just Touch was in Pool B, as there were four pools with five teams in each.

The Caboolture team won all four of its round-robin games, while a Pool A team and a Pool C team did likewise.

It’s Just Touch began with a 3-1 win against the Coolum Bluefins, and followed up with a 5-0 win against Kawana and an 8-3 victory over the Raiders on the same day.

The Caboolture team trounced Maryborough White 7-0 the next day, before beating QNZLDer 6-4 in a quarter-final and then winning a semi-final 3-1 against No Chance.

It’s Just Touch opposed undefeated Pool A team Ankle Bullies in the decider, with the Pool A team prevailing 5-3.

Caboolture Touch Association president Lloyd Celere said, “It’s Just Touch is an amazing example of how social teams can enjoy the game of touch football in well organised events with their friends.

“Caboolture Touch is extremely proud of this group’s eff orts at Bundy Cup.”
