Cattle prices lift $50-$80 per head at Toogoolawah

FEEDER STEERS, along with background steers and weaners, saw values rise some $50 to $80 per head at the Shepherdson and Boyd store cattle sale at Toogoolawah on Friday July 9.


In a yarding of 680 head, heifers and future breeders were keenly sought after.

Karin Downs Pty Ltd of Clermont consigned 150 Santa Droughtmaster steers, two and four teeth, topping at $2,190 and $2,170 to average $1,950 for the consignment.

Charbray steers 21⁄2 yrs from Colinton sold for $2,170.

John Pettigrew of MGLG Enterprises sold 16 mths Charbray steers for $1,810.

Oakcorp Pty Ltd sold Charolais x steers 15 mths for $1,760.

Cecil Heit of Stoney Creek, Kilcoy had Droughtmaster steers 2 yrs at $1,920.

Ross Milner of Baralaba sold Brangus steers 10 mths at $1,790.

Middlemount Range of Kilcoy had Droughtmaster steers at $1,660.

Brisbane Valley Protein sold a line of 40 Grey Brahman steers 12-15 mths at $1,500 and $1,470.

Glen and Carol Beanland sold Charolais x weaners steer calves at $1,640.

Garth and Toni Reiser sold late Charolais x steer calves at $1,500.

Tony Gilliland of “Louisavale”, Kilcoy had Droughtmaster x steers 16 mths at $1,740.

Mark Vidoni had Charolais x steer calves 6 mths at $1,390 and $1,370.

Breeder females saw great demand with Symbol D Grazing’s Charolais x PTIC heifers selling for $2,480.

Graham, Ros and Matt Bauer’s Charbray PTIC cows sold for $2,280 and PTIC Grey Brahman aged cows $1,980.

Cove Farms sold PTIC Droughtmaster cows for $2,300.

Santa store cows from Arabanoo Pastoral Co. sold for $1,690.

Bauer's Charbray cows with young calves sold for $2,550.

Kerry Head sold Charolais x heifers 18 mths for $1,750.

Brisbane Valley Protein sold Charbray heifers 16 mths at $1,660; Droughtmaster at $1,610 and Brangus at $1,670 and $1,665. The Santa x realised $1,630.

Keonig Family had Charolais x heifers 6 mths at $1,230.

BJ Farms had Charolais x heifers 6 mths at $1,260.

Bauer Family, Tambo had Grey Brahman heifers 14 mths at $1,800; 8-10 mths at $1,300 and Red Brahman heifers $1,900.

Charbray heifers sold for $1,230.

Clinton and Brenda Stretton had Angus heifer calves at $1,250.

The next sale is a weaner and store sale on 23 July with over 2,500 head expected with a large percentage to be pre-inspected clean for easy travel to tick free areas.
