Police were elated to find that three of their vehicles had been stocked with toys donated from the local community, wrapped and ready to be handed to the children of Caboolture.

Flicking on their lights and sirens, officers helped Santa to hand toys out to more than 150 children in need across the region.

Senior Constable Jo-Anne Arthur said this was their fifth year running the toy drive and its success year-after-year relies on donations from the public.

Denise Glasgow from Burpengary has donated toys every year and said she “loves it”.

After seeing an article in the local newspaper a few years ago advertising for toy donations, Denise said she got straight onto it.

“It’s the most delightful thing seeing the kids’ faces,” Denise said.

“The kids hear the police sirens and come running out.”

Denise said she spends months collecting presents to ensure she gets only “the good ones” for each child.

With well over 100 toys donated for this year’s drive, Denise said much credit must also go to her granddaughter Cassidy Weight who has helped her each year to pick out gifts and get the trolley-loads of presents to the station.

Jo-Anne said Caboolture Police were very excited about the volume of toys donated and said that helping Santa to deliver the toys is the highlight of their work year.

“It’s the best day to work because (the children) are just super stoked,” Jo-Anne said.
