Somerset Regional Council has started the Social Plan project for the region by engaging TAP Consulting team to research and develop a plan that will help guide council’s strategic direction in terms of community development.

Somerset Mayor Graeme Lehmann said creation of a Social Plan for the region that is reflective of the community was vital.

“A social plan is a document that guides a response to social needs and aspirations for a community now and into the future,” Cr Lehmann said.

“The social plan will also enable Council to prioritise community service delivery and expectations, advocate for funding and prioritise actions for the region.”

Somerset residents are being encouraged to have their say and contribute to the development of the Social Plan.

“Our consultants want to hear from residents about their experience of living in the Somerset region, and the opportunities and challenges this brings,” Cr Lehmann said.

“The views, ideas and suggestions of our residents is critical input into shaping the plan.”

Residents are encouraged to attend a pop-up session in the Somerset region or complete an online survey before 28 October by visiting: https://bit.ly/3Rmn1Mb
