“On behalf of Council, I welcome each of you and your families to our community and thank you for making a valuable contribution to the Somerset region,” Cr Lehmann said.

“It is a huge step becoming an Australian citizen and I congratulate each of you for pledging your loyalty to Australia and its people.

We celebrate each and every one of our new citizens and for contributing to the fabric of our community and we celebrate our diversity and multiculturalism here in Somerset.”

Federal Member for Blair Shayne Neumann also attended the ceremony and read out the message from Minister for Immigration, Citizenship and Multicultural Affairs Andrew Giles.

Somerset councillors Cheryl Gaedtke and Kylee Isidro also attended the service to welcome the new citizens as did State Member for Lockyer Jim McDonald.
