A blessing for mother and daughter on Mother’s Day
MOTHER’S DAY was a memorable occasion for Sharon Eti Faresa Kapisi and her daughter Blessing, as they both made their debut for the Caboolture Snakes senior women’s rugby league team.
It was also the first time they had played in the same team, after Blessing had played junior football for the Snakes.
Sharon and Blessing began last Sunday’s women’s game on the interchange bench before playing in the forwards, in a landslide 44-0 win over Nambour at Bob Day Oval.
Blessing said she really enjoyed playing with her mum.
“She always pushes us kids to give everything our best, and to witness her give everything in the game today was an inspiration,” Blessing said after the game.
Sharon said, “I felt humbled to even have the opportunity to play the game that I’ve grown to love and better, to be playing alongside my daughter and on debut on Mother’s Day.
“It was an amazing experience for me and I enjoyed it.
“We both come away feeling proud, because it was a team effort and everyone played their part.
“We are humbled to be playing with amazing and talented ladies who are all about empowering others. Most of all we give thanks to our Heavenly Father who was with us.”
The Caboolture team was largely a family affair as it also included twin sisters Tamzin and Emmogen Taumafai, and their older sister Jazmyn.
Caboolture’s previous match, which was a 20-12 loss to Caloundra, was the first time the three sisters played together.
Tamzin scored two tries while Jazmyn scored one in the thumping win over Nambour. Taya Chippendale and Bianca Dioth also scored two tries each, while Chantelle Rolfe scored one.
