Another ton for Batticciotto

GLEN Batticciotto continued his sparkling run of form with the bat as he set up another resounding victory for Caboolture’s Division 1 cricket team.

The Caboolture women’s team also won, while it was a sorry tale for Caboolture’s teams in Divisions 2, 5 and 7 in last weekend’s fixtures.

Big total sets up big win in Division 1

Batticciotto scored 114 not out while Preston White made 65 in Caboolture’s total of 4/287 against Glasshouse, following their centuries in a total of 4/297 against Maroochydore the previous weekend.

Glasshouse was restricted to 8/160 in 50 overs, with White returning miserly figures of 0/17 from 10 overs while Batticciotto held two catches and had bowling figures of 1/19 from four overs.

John Flew, Jayden Coffin and Carter Simpson captured two wickets each for the triumphant home side.

Batting failures haunt three Caboolture teams

Sub-standard batting cost Caboolture dearly in Divisions 2, 5 and 7, as these three Caboolture teams lost by eight wickets.

In Division 2, Jakeb Valente took 4/17 as Caboolture was dismissed for 59 in 26.1 overs, before opener Lachlan Kropp’s 42 not out enabled Maroochydore to win in just 9.4 overs.

In Division 5, Jason Law’s 4/8 helped dismiss Caboolture for 78 in 38.1 overs before USC reached the target in 18.1 overs.

A USC bowler also took 4/8 in Division 7, with Lachlan Moore largely responsible for Caboolture’s poor total of 65 before USC passed the target in 14 overs.

USC’s Adam Dunbar was an all-round star as he took 2/8 as an opening bowler, and scored 33 as an opening batter.

Tight win for Caboolture women’s team

Caboolture had a narrow win over Wamuran-Stanley River as an intriguing women’s contest unfolded at Wamuran Sports Reserve.

Loren Zardo’s unbeaten 33 stood out in Caboolture’s total of 4/107 in 20 overs, while Gayle Mawer took 2/9 for Wamuran-Stanley River.

In reply, the hosts did not lose a wicket but they finished five runs short of the target.

It was telling that the victors conceded 22 runs in illegal bowling, while the beaten team conceded 32 runs in illegitimate deliveries.
