Caboolture chases down target in Division 2 Cricket
CABOOLTURE won when batting second in Divisions 2 and 7 in senior cricket last Saturday, while Caboolture’s Division 5 team fell short in its run chase.
Division 2 wins at Coolum
Coolum struggled to 9/120 in 38 overs on home soil, before Caboolture reached 7/124 in 37.5 overs.
Number seven batter Cory Barley (24) and number nine batter Ben Stevenson (23 not out) were the only Coolum players to score more than 10.
Burpengary wins Division 5 game at home
Host team Burpengary compiled 7/178 in 40 overs, before Caboolture was all out for 126 in 38.5 overs.
Thomas Tucker top-scored for Burpengary with 36, while the Caboolture bowlers gave away 47 runs in wides.
Brett Lethborg, Aston Helliwell, Jack Cheney and Michael Fanton took the wickets for Burpengary, while Sam Cole (0/18 from eight overs) was the most economical bowler for the victors.
Mitchell Smith stars in Division 7
Caboolture recorded a four-wicket win over Palmwoods in Division 7 action at Caboolture Sports Cricket Club.
Palmwoods succumbed for 118 in 38 overs before Caboolture passed the target in 22 overs, having lost wickets at 8, 28, 43, 107, 107 and 109.
The visitors were 5/22 before Luke Scott sparked a revival with his innings of 64, only for Palmwoods to lose its last four wickets for four runs.
Five Caboolture bowlers shared the wickets, with Nick Sly taking 3/18.
Mitchell Smith, who captured 2/8 in eight overs, followed up with 45 not out at number three to set up the victory.
