Dazzling NRL double header comes to Moreton Bay

THIRD time’s the charm for fans wanting to watch a live NRL match in Moreton Bay, with a double header debuting at Redcliffe on Sunday (August 15).

After the last two games were cancelled due to lockdown, Moreton Daily Stadium will host the back-to-back matches - a first for the region, bolstering business at a time most needed.

Kicking off at 1.50pm, round 22 will see the Warriors battle it out with the Bulldogs, before the Sharks take on the Knights at 4pm.

With lockdown lifted and businesses reopened, Mayor Peter Flannery said there wasn’t a better time to support local and showcase the #MoretonBayTough spirit.

“The rescheduling of these matches couldn’t come at a better time as we come out of our strictest, and by far hardest, lockdown yet,” Cr Flannery said.

“We hope the matches provide a much-needed conversion for the business community who have been doing it tough while bringing us closer together to celebrate sport off the back of our Olympic success.

“You will have to comply with current Covid regulations, but this weekend is the perfect opportunity to show your support by buying local, shopping local and, if you’re coming from Brisbane, holidaying locally.

“Starting with buying your ticket to join history as we host our region’s first regular season NRL match!

“Locals have done a great job at stopping the spread of the virus, so I know they’ll continue to abide by Queensland Health’s advice at Moreton Daily Stadium this Sunday.”
