First innings win in Division 1 for Caboolture
Host team Caboolture had a comfortable first innings win over Gympie in the two-day Division 1 cricket match at Caboolture Sports Cricket Club.
In reply to Caboolture’s first innings of 8/288, Gympie was dismissed for 128 before Caboolture declared at 9/204.
Gympie lost four wickets for 43 runs in its second innings as 10 Caboolture players bowled one over each.
Once again, Caboolture had strong contributions from Preston White (81 and 31 with the bat, and 3/60 and 0/6 with the ball) and Glen Batticciotto (30 and 112 with the bat, and 5/33 with the ball).
Convincing defeat in Division 2
Caboolture was heavily beaten by Palmwoods in the Division 2 contest at The Woods.
Palmwoods opening batter Luke Pringle’s innings of 123 set up a total of 4/267 in 40 overs, before he took 2/23 from four overs as Caboolture succumbed for 122 in 34.2 overs.
The Caboolture total would have been less than 100 had the Palmwoods bowlers not conceded 32 runs in wides.
Women’s team wins by 48 runs
Caboolture notched a total of 124 in 20 overs without losing a wicket, before Landsborough replied with 1/76 in the women’s match on Caboolture soil.
Claudia Arjun (30 retired) and Calise Bicanic (26 retired) were the best of Caboolture’s batters, while the total included 33 wides and nine no-balls.
Caboolture’s bowlers were also erratic at times as they sent down 22 wides and nine no-balls.
Laura Topp captured the only wicket of the match.
