Local rugby league players join Falcons for exchange carnival

TWENTY Caboolture Snakes and 10 Stanley River Wolves junior rugby league players will represent the Sunshine Coast Falcons at the Cultural Exchange Carnival on the weekend of June 26 and 27.

The Snakes and Wolves contingent will take part along with players from other clubs, including Beerwah, Caloundra, Gympie, Maroochydore, Nambour and the host club, Coolum Colts.

The carnival is designed to provide junior players from remote and outback areas of Queensland with the opportunity to play football with their ‘city’ cousins.

Scores and results are not recorded, as the focus is on participation and mateship, while players have the chance to form new friendships with the children from other regions.

The U17 girls age group features nine Caboolture players and six Stanley River players in the squad of 30.

The U17 girls also have the chance to gain selection for the Falcons representative side to play at the Central Division Carnival at Sunshine Coast Stadium on July 10.

One player from each of the Snakes and Wolves clubs earned selection in the U16 boys squad of 21.

Six Snakes players made the U14 boys squad of 21, while four Snakes and three Wolves made the U14 girls squad of 19.
