Mixed results for Caboolture cricket teams

The first round of the Sunshine Coast Cricket Association competition delivered mixed results for the Caboolture Cricket Club.

CABOOLTURE’S Division 1 cricketers enjoyed a strong start to their limited overs season as they trounced Caloundra by nine wickets at Roy Henzell Park last Saturday.

Connor Corlet captured the first five wickets of the match, before Preston White and Jaxon Eyles made their way through the lower order as Caloundra was bundled out for 61 in the 28th over.

White went on to score an unbeaten 26, while opening partner Jackson Simpson made 31 and was dismissed when the scores were level. 

Seven-wicket loss for Caboolture in Div 2

AN UNCONQUERED century from opener Marcus Bellchambers enabled Caloundra to beat Caboolture by seven wickets in last Saturday’s Division 2 cricket contest.

A score of 71 not out from Jeremy Trost was the backbone of Caboolture’s 208 all out in 38 overs, while Elias Cottrell was the pick of Caloundra’s bowlers with 4-22.

Dylan Cross matched Trost’s score while Bellchambers made an even 100 as Caloundra cruised past the target in just 25.2 overs.

Glasshouse overtakes Caboolture total in Div 5

CABOOLTURE had a shaky start to its Division 5 cricket season as Glasshouse won by three wicket defeat at Caboolture Sports Cricket Club.

The hosts were dismissed for 131 in 29.5 overs, helped by 17 wides and seven no-balls.

Caboolture’s bowlers were even more wayward as they sent down 32 wides and four no-balls, while Glasshouse stuttered home in 36.2 overs.

No joy for Div 7 in huge run chase

CABOOLTURE was no match for Landsborough in the Division 7 cricket clash last Saturday.

The top three Landsborough batters made scores from 48 to 59 while the home side was assisted by 50 runs in illegal bowling in a total of 5/220 in 40 overs.

The visiting team’s reply of 72 included 20 runs from wides. Patrick Lawson and John Walkerden scored 14 runs each while the next highest score was eight.
