No joy for Caboolture cricket teams

IT WAS a tough day at the office, or rather a tough day on the cricket field for the senior Caboolture cricket teams last Saturday.

None of Caboolture’s teams could reach a total of 100, with three of the teams losing while the Division 1 contest was a no-result after rain forced an early finish.

Top order fails in Division 1

Having been starved of cricket action in the New Year, Caboolture’s Division 1 team struggled to 90 all out before rain prevented Maroochydore starting the run chase.

On home soil, Caboolture slumped to 4/9 and 6/30 before Lachlan Ryan, David McKay and Connor Corlet showed some resistance.

Glasshouse holds the aces in Division 2

Caboolture failed to make an impact with bat and ball against Glasshouse for the second week running.

After losing to Glasshouse by 10 wickets on February 5, Caboolture captured three wickets a week later while Glasshouse compiled 176 runs in 34 overs, with Brett Milini and Tim Taylor again passing 50.

After tallying 123 on February 5, Caboolture could manage only 9/81 a week later.

Massacre in Division 5

Palmwoods defeated Caboolture for the second week running in Division 5, with a mere two-wicket win on February 5 followed by a 230-run drubbing a week later.

Palmwoods amassed a huge total of 7/312, including 41 fours and six sixes in the allotted 40 overs.

Caboolture set about the run chase with gusto, but was all out in just 12.5 overs.

Caboolture falls well short in Division 7

Cooroy-Eumundi Green won by 50 runs last Saturday after Caboolture won by two wickets the previous Saturday.

Cooroy-Eumundi Green’s 5/143 was a vast improvement from the previous week’s total of 74 while Caboolture, having struggled with the bat on February 5, fared little better on February 12 as the team managed 9/93.

Last Saturday’s fixture was reduced to 28 overs per side, with both teams seeing out the allotted overs.
